Well done to two Coláiste Pobail Acla students; Amanda Kane and Jodie Western who are participated in a group of 520 students representing some 23 EU countries taking part in Euroscola in Strasbourg. They are our young MEP’s for today discussing various topics and proposing various solutions which will be presented to MEP. Jodie was involved in a presentation to the European Parliament.
The topics included:
Environment and renewable energies-how can we help bring about change in behaviour? How can we encourage sustainable development?
2015-European year for development-to what extent is the EU responsible for the development of non-EU countries? Does the economic and financial crisis justify a reduction in the EU’s financial involvement in external development? What aid can it give?
Migration and integration. How can balance be maintained within society? What minimum rules must be compiled with? How can migration in the Euro-Mediterranean region be managed
Youth employment-what measures should be taken by the EU to promote your employment
What role is played by the media in publicising issues relating to European unification? To what extent are they contributing to the emergence of a critical body of public opinion.
