Colaiste Iascaigh has been working on the Healthy Schools programme in conjunction with the Sligo HSE Health Promotion department for the past four years and the hard work has finally paid off in achieving the “Healthy Schools” flag. There is an extra sense of pride attached to this in being the first school in Sligo to achieve this flag status.

As a school we are constantly trying to improve the health and well-being of students as it is proven to have a positive effect on their educational performance. Through this programme we have worked on themes like “healthy eating”, “mental health” and “positive living”. The school has a Co-ordinator Ms. Hennigan and a committee of students who worked hard to plan activities, talks, posters and demonstrations to improve the health and well-being of the students and staff in the school. The award ceremony is set to take place in the coming weeks.

Ms. Hennigan, the Healthy Schools Co-ordinator , would like to thank all the teachers, staff and students for their help and participation in the programme which will continue in the school , working hard to improve the health of all.
