Musician Educators/Director of a Traditional Orchestra

MUSIC GENERATION LEITRIM

Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education and Training Board on behalf of Music Generation Leitrim invites applications from suitably qualified instrumental/vocal musician educators for the position of Director of a Traditional Orchestra to be based in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. Suitably qualified applicants are also invited to be placed on a panel for the purpose of delivering Traditional Irish Music/Vocal tuition to young people and children.  Please note that being placed on the panel is not a guarantee of work.

 

Additional Information:

Plans are underway for Music Generation Leitrim’s Traditional Irish Orchestra. It is hoped that the Orchestra which is set to be in Drumshanbo will be launched in January 2020. A composer will work with the young people in the orchestra to create and develop their own suite of music. The new work will be premiered at The Joe Mooney Summer School July 2020.

The Traditional Orchestra Director(s) will work with the participants on a weekly basis to ensure the necessary high level of performance for the debut of the suite. It is intended that this project, in partnership with The Arts Office, will be the catalyst of a long term Traditional Irish Orchestra for the county.
